Jake Meyer

Speaker Jake Meyer is a World Record Breaking mountaineer and adventurer, also a consultant for the Inspirational Development Group.
Speaker Jake Meyer is an experienced public speaker whose incredible story of climbing Mt Everest aged only 21 is an inspirational tale of determination, tenacity and an unerring will to succeed. Jake was only 14 when he set his sights on wanting to climb the 7 Summits, the highest mountain on each continent. On the 4th of June 2005, aged only 21, he reached the summit of Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. At the time, he was the youngest Briton to climb Mt Everest, and the youngest man in the world to complete the 7 Summits.

Not content with just the 7 Summits, Jake also holds the record for the fastest ascent of the highest mountain in each of the 48 states, in the contiguous USA. This culminated in 48 mountains, 350 miles of trekking, 100,000 ft of climbing and 15,000 miles of driving in 23 days, 19 hours and 31 minutes.

In 2009, Speaker Jake Meyer spent 2 months in Pakistan on K2, the second highest mountain in the world and arguably the most difficult and dangerous (with a 1 in 4 death rate). He reached 7700m without oxygen before bad snow conditions forced a retreat to safety. Jake returned to K2 in 2016 as part of the first British Team to attempt the mountain in over a decade, which was described as probably the strongest team on the mountain. Again unfortunately, the summit wasn't to be during the summit attempt, a huge avalanche destroyed Camp 3 (7300m), calling a halt to all climbing for that season. Jake hopes to return to K2 in 2018.

In 2010 he joined the Inspirational Development Group as a consultant. IDG offers first-class training designed to transform the behaviour of individuals and teams, and lead to sustainable change within an organisation. They offer a range of bespoke Leadership Development programmes, focussing on the interlocking areas of Leadership, Followership and Partnership, to produce accomplished leaders who are also effective followers and highly skilled team players.

Speaker Jake Meyer was an ambassador to the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards Scheme, and regularly presented the Gold Awards at St Jamess Palace. He has worked closely with a number of charities, including Walking With The Wounded, Help for Heroes, The Princes Trust, the Princes Teaching Institute, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the CAIRN Trust. Jake is also a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve, and in 2012 he spent 6.5 months in Afghanistan as a Battlegroup Influence and Consequence Management Officer.

Jake is available as a thought-provoking, inspirational and motivational speaker for events around the world. His presentation can be tailored specifically to the audience and to fulfil the aims and objectives of the client. He is comfortable providing focused and intimate discussion with small teams of Senior Executives, or presenting to large audiences of 1800+.
