Johannes (Jan) de Jonge

Business Psychologist bringing the fascinating field of business psychology to life.
Originally from the Netherlands, Jan de Jonge is a business psychologist who is in his element talking to, engaging and inspiring groups of people about such topics as entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, the psychology of personality and of customer service, leadership effectiveness, peak performance, and personal and professional development. He founded business psychology consultancy People Business Psychology Ltd. in 2012.

His experience spans several decades of either working for leading international psychology consultancies, working across cultures and continents, and partnering in and setting up his own businesses. He coaches and develops people on a range of skills and techniques, on the intersection of people, business and psychology.

A multi-lingual consultant, author and speaker, Jan has international experience of senior management assessment and development, talent management and coaching professionals at all levels, from operational managers to board-level and C-suite executives, in UK and Ireland, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Building on experience gained with a wide variety of large, high-profile corporate PLCs (FTSE100), NGOs and SMEs, in 2012 Jan set up his own business psychology consultancy, whilst also working as international Associate in project-based assignments for leading UK-based talent management consulting firms SHL/CEB and Edgecumbe Consulting Group.

Jan received his psychology MA degree from the University of Amsterdam before gaining a post-graduate diploma in talent management consulting, and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS; qualified to levels A and B in Occupational Testing. He is one of the more widely trained and qualified professionals in the UK, accredited to use SHL/CEB's suite of psychometrics (OPQ, MQ), WAVE, Hogans HDS, HPI and MVPI), and many other instruments. he is a Principal Practitioner member the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP) and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Jan has been Chair of a local FSB Branch in the South (National Federation of Small Business) for 3 years and is member of the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Hub Governance Group (LEP), a public/private partnership tasked with driving economic growth and supporting new business opportunities. Jan is a Mentor at St Johns Marlborough International Academy and part of the Enterprise Advisor Network.

Jan contributed as author to a book about business psychology in practice, published in 2015 by the ABP, along authors such as Prof Peter Saville, with a foreword by the CEO of the CIPD, Peter Cheese; Jan spoke about this book at an ABPs annual conference. As a member of Mensa, Jan combines pragmatism with robust experience and a (very) high-level ability to incisively apply cognitive reasoning.

Jan has advised many senior managers, boards and C-suites of corporate clients in UK, Europe, Middle East (e.g. Pearson plc, Castrol (BP), Santander, Lloyds banking Group, Oxford University Press, AXA Group, Sony, KLM, Alitalia, Etihad Airways, Colgate, police force, fie service, VISA Europe, AGE UK, the UK Government's Intellectual Property Office [IPO], Emaar [Dubai, UAE], Ooredoo [Oman]), many SMEs and individual clients in the UK and mainland Europe.

For many years, Jan was the lead singer in local pop-music band; in his mind, winning over the crowd was the measure of success of the band he fronted.
